Taking photos

On a template walk, every photo belongs to a section, and most find their own slot. Here's how to take them, move them, and see what the app records with each one.

1

Taking photos in a section

  1. Open a section and tap the big camera button at the bottom. The camera shows which section you're in.

  2. Shoot as many as you need. Each lands in a little tray on screen straight away.

  3. Tap Done to go back to the section.

Want a photo for one particular slot? Tap the + square in that photo field instead — the camera opens just for that field.

On the camera: the lightning icon is the torch, the aperture icon switches to high resolution, and the picture icon picks photos from your library. If a shot looks blurry or very dark, the app suggests a retake.

2

Photo fields

Below the chips, each photo the section asks for has its own row:

  • ✓ or ◌ — has a photo, or still needs one.
  • 1/2 — how many photos it has, and how many it holds.
  • * — required before you're covered at the end.
  • See an example — some templates show what a good shot looks like.
3

Photos that sort themselves

Photos taken with the section's camera button start unassigned. The app looks at each one and places it in the photo field it matches — you'll feel a light tap as it lands. Full fields are skipped.

  • It needs a connection. A photo has to upload before it can be sorted. With no signal, photos wait in the Unassigned tray. Place them yourself, or open the section again once you have signal.
  • You always win. The app never moves a photo you placed yourself.
4

Moving a photo

  1. Press and hold a photo — in the Unassigned tray, or one already in a field.

  2. A banner says Tap a slot to place the photo.

  3. Tap Place here in the field you want. Or tap Cancel.

5

Time, place and weather

Tap any photo to see it full screen with its record:

  • When — the date and time it was taken.
  • Where — the address and exact coordinates, if you allowed location, with Open in Google Maps to see the spot.
  • Which way — the compass direction the camera faced, when the phone could tell.
  • Size — its resolution.

From there, the pencil opens the photo editor (Annotating photos) and the trash icon deletes the photo from the walk and the report.

Stamp time and place on the photo. Turn on Settings → Photo Watermark to add a time and location overlay to each photo. The original is kept too, and the stamped copy still carries the date and location in its file data.

Weather. When you start a walk with an address, the app records the weather at that moment. It shows under the walk's name, and template reports print it as Conditions.

6

How many photos?

Up to 150 photos a walk. At 100 the app mentions it, just so you know. If you reach 150, finish that walk and start a second one for the rest of the job — nothing is lost.
