Storm Damage Photos That Hold Up — GPS, Time and Weather on Record
Storm damage photos that record when, where and which way you were facing: GPS, time and heading on every shot, and the weather on the walk.
What you’ll see
- A storm damage inspection is hundreds of photos taken on a wet roof in the wind. Weeks later someone asks which slope a photo shows and what day it was taken. In ReportWalk every photo records the time, the GPS position and the compass direction the phone was facing. Tap a photo to see the address, the coordinates and a button that opens the spot in Google Maps.
- The storm damage assessment template is built in: storm event, test squares, roof damage, collateral damage, interior leaks and your finding. Open roof damage, tap once and talk: covering damage, soft metal dents and ridge damage fill in while you speak.
- The original photo is kept at full resolution with its data inside. Turn on the photo watermark to stamp the time and location on the picture, and the stamped copy keeps the data too. Circle the hail bruise, draw an arrow at the dent, and the original stays untouched. The walk records the weather when you start, so the storm damage report shows the date, the temperature and the conditions, with every photo in the section it belongs to.
Transcript
A storm damage inspection is two hundred photos, taken on a wet roof, in the wind. Three weeks later somebody asks: which slope was this? And what day?
Open the storm damage assessment in ReportWalk. Storm event, test squares, roof damage, collateral damage, interior leaks, and your finding.
Go to roof damage. Tap once, and talk.
“Hail bruising and granule loss on the west slope. Dents in the vents and the flashing. Ridge is fine.”
Covering damage, soft metal dents, ridge: filled.
Now the storm damage photos. Every one records the time, the GPS position, and which way the phone was facing.
Tap a photo: the address, the coordinates, and a button that opens the exact spot in Google Maps.
So the west slope is actually the west slope. Not the one that felt west at the time.
The original is kept, full resolution, with its data inside. Want the time and place stamped on the picture? Switch it on, and the stamped copy keeps the data too.
Circle the bruise. Arrow at the dent. The original stays untouched.
And the walk records the weather when you start, so the report says the date, the temperature and the conditions you were standing in.
Then the storm damage report: test squares, soft metals, collateral damage, every photo in the section it belongs to.
So when somebody asks which slope, and what day, the answer is already in the photo.
West slope. Ten forty in the morning. You were also cold.
