Your comment library

The paragraphs you write again and again — a double-tapped breaker, a missing downspout extension — saved once in your own words. Add one to a walk with a tap, or just say its shortcut while you talk.

Save a comment

  1. Open Settings → Comment Library and tap New comment.

  2. Give it a Title and the Comment text — the paragraph exactly as it should appear in the report.

  3. Add a Shortcut you'll say, such as double tap. Two or three words you wouldn't say by accident work best. Each shortcut can call up only one comment.

  4. Choose a Severity — None, Monitor, Repair or Safety — and tap Save.

With a severity, the comment also appears in the report's summary of findings.

Add one to a walk

  1. In a template walk, open a section and tap Add a comment from your library.

  2. Search, then tap the comment. It appears under Comments in that section.

What goes into the walk is a copy. Tap it to Edit text just for this walk, or Remove from this section. Your library stays as it is.

Say the shortcut

While you're recording a section, just say the shortcut as part of what you're saying. When you stop, the matching comment is added to that section, and the panel tells you how many comments were added.

“Panel cover off, double tap on the twenty amp breaker.”

Adds your “double tap” comment to this section.

Your library is kept on your iPhone or iPad, so shortcuts work in a basement with no signal.

Import from a past report

  1. Open one of your finished reports (a PDF or Word file), select all the text and copy it.

  2. In Comment Library, tap Import from a report, paste, and tap Find my comments. Paste at least a few paragraphs.

  3. Review what it found. Each comes with a suggested title, shortcut and severity. All are ticked to start with; untick any you don't want, then tap Save. A shortcut you already use isn't duplicated.

Your wording is kept word for word. A paragraph is only offered if it appears in your text exactly; anything that was reworded is dropped. Importing needs a connection.

Good to know

  • Finished reports don't change. Editing or deleting a library comment never changes a walk that already uses it.
  • Template walks. Comments are added to the sections of a template walk.
  • Where they appear. In the report, a comment sits in its section, under its title.
