A home inspection takes a morning. The home inspection report somehow takes the rest of your life.
Tonight, let’s not do that.
Open ReportWalk and start a home inspection. Grounds, roof, structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, interior, attic, fireplace, garage. Ten sections. Already there. Nobody needs to build a form at 8:14 in the morning.
Start outside. Tap once and say what you see.
“Grading slopes toward the house at the back corner. Downspout’s dumping right at the foundation.”
Grading and drainage: poor. Note written. You haven’t typed anything. You’re just standing on a lawn, complaining about water.
Up on the roof, same deal. Flashing, shingles, gutters. You talk. It fills things in. Which is useful, because rooftops remain a terrible desk.
At the panel, your hands are busy, so the volume button takes the photo.
“Double-tapped breaker, bottom left. No GFCI in the kitchen.” Two fields. One sentence. Photo files itself under Main Electrical Panel.
Nobody drags a thumbnail into a little box. We’ve suffered enough.
Then you go into the basement and, naturally, the internet dies. It’s a basement. Even the signal doesn’t want to be there.
